Ivan Ortega

Ivan Ortega was born in the State of Mexico, when he was 6 years old his family moved to Cuernavaca, Mexico. It was around this time that he started drawing and coloring, encouraged by his teachers and his mother. A few years later his family moved to the U.S with hopes of a better life, they decided to settle in Salt Lake after spending some time in California. Ivan continued drawing and taking as many art classes during Junior High and High School. After graduating High School, he continued creating art and learning different mediums such as spray paint and linocut. After a few years, Ivan decided to go back to school and really focus on his art career. He is currently studying Graphic Design at Salt Lake Community College. Ivan’s main source of inspiration comes from his heritage and culture. Growing up as a Mexican immigrant in America has given him a unique perspective on life which is visible in his art.
